Dear Wally,
Please share this letter with all who participated in last years Silver King Classic.
I just wanted to give everyone an update on Benjamin’s recovery. You may remember last April he was stricken with Rotavirus Encephalitis, which left him unable to walk, talk or eat. It was a terrible time and his future was uncertain. We felt helpless with the diagnosis of such a rare disease. The doctors were unable to give us any kind of prognosis for recovery. All we had was hope and prayer to get us through.
Benjamin has been through months of rehabilitation including all three therapies. The first few months after his hospitalization were draining both emotionally and financially. With the support of family and friends, and the generosity of strangers, we were able to overcome most obstacles and are making what I consider a miraculous recovery.
The donation made from your tournament provided funds that allowed us to pay the overwhelming medical bills that resulted from Benjamin’s illness. We are so grateful to all who participated in this event and contributed to Benjamin’s recovery.
I am happy to say that Benjamin is now 4 years old and is what I would consider 90% back to where he was. We still have specialty physicians that we see and he is still provided with OT and Speech services, but we have our Benjamin. We cherish every day together.
You are all wonderful! Good luck with this year’s tournament.
Sincerely,
The Elliston Family
